Highlighting Love of Nature

The College of Wooster in Ohio recently completed construction of the Ruth W. Williams Hall of Life Science building, a unique building with a biophilic (love of nature) environment that includes several reclaimed elements throughout. Wanting a display to match the uniqueness of the building and acknowledge the gift from the Williams family, the college reached out to us to create a concept that matched the interior and exterior aesthetics of the building.

Our design team created a beautiful display, using real sustainably sourced and natural preserved artisan moss (making it forever green and maintenance free) andplacing it on reclaimed wood from a barn in Ohio. The project was a huge success and we are so proud to have created a donor recognition wall using biophilic design, a principle that believes applying nature to the spaces where we live and work lead to numerous health benefits and an overall sense of well-being!

One Project Leads to Many

We recently worked with the Lindenwood University team on an expansive recognition program for their new building and it all started with a few named gift plaques. Once the plaques were in place we were lucky enough to be asked to design, build, and install several other pieces of recognition including a new donor wall, Lifetime Board Members display, an Alumni Merit Award display, 30 building donor/dedication plaques, and even two cemetery plaques. Interesting fact – Lindenwood is one of the few universities in the country to have a cemetery on campus and has laid to rest several prominent figures in the university’s history, including the dogs of one of the university’s most beloved past presidents.

What made these projects special was how our designs complimented the unique interior and exterior architecture of the new buildings. The university president wanted something “unique and grand” to fill the space, a “true piece of art” that would honor and recognize the special supporters to the University. Suffice to say, our team rose to the occasion and came up with an amazing concept right out of the gate. During the installation, the university’s president even took the time to meet with Dan Marshall, the 1157 sales representative in charge of the projects, to remark how the display exceeded his expectations!
