PAWsome Donor Recognition

With the origins of 1971, the original shelter was no longer adequate to serve the needs of the pets, public, and staff. In 2014, donated land led to a Needs Assessment conducted by Shelter Planners of America. Once the needs and costs were identified, a private campaign was launched to gauge interest and support within the community.

Exceeding the Foundation’s expectations of their $2.4M goal, a public campaign launched on November 7, 2015. Ground broke on November 17, 2017, with construction starting in early October of 2018 the new took nearly a year for completion.

A new state of the art Animal Shelter & Adoption Center allowed SCARF to increase the number of dog kennels and cat condos. This provides a much more inviting, comfortable and safe environment for the furry friends, volunteers, and potential adopters.

The Foundation reached out to Eleven Fifty Seven for guidance with donor recognition needs.

Amy Schwieterman, Interior Designer with Freytag & Associates collaborated with Eleven Fifty Seven’s creative team to ensure the recognition components complemented the interiors. Dean Russo’s artwork is featured in the lobby. Playing off the bold colors, smoked acrylic laid the foundation for a playful display.

Smoked acrylic paws provided the complimenting element with Russo’s artwork. The various sized paws represent the giving levels. Knowing the community’s enthusiasm and future growth potential for the facility, the display was created for expansion by simply adding more paws.

The project touched many people in our community including our Marketing Coordinator, Derrick Spitler. He recently moved into his first home and it was incomplete without a furry friend. After a visit to the shelter, he selected the cutest little kitten. The Eleven Fifty Seven team is having fun helping him select a name for his forever friend.

"Eleven Fifty Seven met and far exceeded our expectations from start to finish! Their custom-designed, built and installed donor recognition is a true highlight of our new Animal Shelter & Adoption Center. Their entire staff of professionals was easy and fun to work with. Most importantly, many donors have expressed that they enjoy the donor recognition.”
